On Friday 6 December the PT team was delighted to support Cheltenham Animal Shelter, who were hosting their annual Festive Evening. Following the success of our stall in 2017, we were back once again to sell mulled wine and mince pies to warm the many visitors.
We arrived early to set up our stall, and it was already abundantly clear how much hard work goes into making such an event possible. There were a host of gazebos erected for all the different stalls, directional signage all over the place, a huge Christmas tree and loads of twinkling lights – not to mention an army of Christmas Elves from the Animal Shelter team busying themselves everywhere.
Following a miserable day of wind and rain, we were all mighty relieved that the weather behaved itself and the evening was calm and clear. There was a great atmosphere from all the festive stalls, including some fabulous carols from the Gotherington Singers and cheerful Christmas tunes from the Winds of Change Orchestra. Visitors came in their droves, many of them accompanied by four-legged furry friends.
Our four PT volunteers were selling not only mulled wine, but also mulled cider and mulled punch, all of which went down a storm accompanied by delicious mince pies. We finished the evening with only one bottle of mulled wine spare, and it was great that we managed to sell so much in aid of this fabulous cause.
We’re delighted to announce that our efforts raised £336, which will go straight to helping Cheltenham Animal Shelter with their work of looking after the animals in their care this Christmas.
