Over the last few years, the team at Paish Tooth have become increasingly keen to support our local community through volunteering and fundraising activities. We believe strongly not only in helping our clients to succeed, but also in helping others who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Being socially responsible is important for any business, and for us at Paish Tooth it offers a wonderful opportunity for all the team to get involved and work together to make a positive difference. Our firm is relatively small in number, and yet through our volunteer days, our cake sales and our charity partnerships, we feel we’re helping to make a worthwhile contribution to a better society.
The PT team was delighted to support Cheltenham Animal Shelter’s annual Festive Evening. Following the success of our stall in 2017, we were back once again to sell mulled wine and mince pies.
In our latest efforts to help a local charity, the Paish Tooth team once again supported Gloucestershire Young Carers (GYC), this time at Tewkesbury Abbey Tea Rooms.
The PT team spent a fabulous day volunteering for The Nelson Trust at their annual Clay Pigeon Shoot fundraising event. Think gilets, Hunter wellies, barbour jackets, tweed caps and a LOT of money raised for charity!
As part of our ongoing support for local charities, the PT team volunteered at a very rewarding careers event for young adult carers, run by Gloucestershire Young Carers.
During the course of 2018 the PT team took part in three volunteering days in support of the James Hopkins Trust. Our first event was a day spent collecting money from racegoers on their way to and from the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March. In April we then volunteered at JHT’s centre Kites Corner, tidying up their sensory garden ready for the spring. Then later on in the year we helped JHT by making papier mache ‘baubles’, which the children then decorated to use as collection boxes to raise money for the charity.
The PT team have taken part in two volunteering days at Cheltenham Animal Shelter – the first of which was instrumental in us choosing them as our charity of the year in 2017. These days each involved the team helping to clean out all the animals – including the dog kennels, cat pen and the small animal cages. The afternoons were spent exercising the dogs, including a pack walk as well individual dog walks and training in the off-lead paddock. Both days were good fun and highly rewarding!
The PT team spent a fab day tidying up Cheltenham’s ‘secret’ garden – the Winston Churchill Memorial Gardens. We were supporting a community group called Green Space Volunteers, who maintain the Gardens with the support of Cheltenham Community Ranger Janet Peacey.
Our task was to clear and tidy large beds of lavender and rosemary bushes which were competing for space with a vast number of prolific weeds! The weather was kind and the results were very satisfying – by the end of the day our section of the Gardens was looking neat and well cared for.
We regularly support local and national fundraising efforts, including Red Nose Day, Children in Need and at Christmas, our local Hamper Scamper appeal. Various members of the PT team enjoy baking cakes, and we all enjoy making a donation to eat said cakes! We have also sold our home-baked wares to neighbouring businesses and regularly hold dress down days in a bid to boost our total. So far we have contributed over £320 towards Red Nose Day and Children in Need. For the Christmas Hamper Scamper appeals we are delighted to donate large boxes of food essentials and Christmas treats to local families in need.
