PT spends a successful year supporting JHT
Jan 03, 2019
2018 saw the Paish Tooth team spending a fun and successful year supporting the James Hopkins Trust (JHT), with our final fundraising total reaching £862.
In January we announced that we were making JHT our charity of the year, and since then we have supported them in a variety of different ways.
Our efforts began by signing up to join JHT’s own lottery scheme. In return for a year’s donation we joined their weekly lottery draw to receive cash prizes of £50 or £100, which sadly none of us ever won!
Our main focus was a series of volunteering days spent supporting the charity. We started with a bucket collection at Cheltenham Races on Gold Cup day, which involved a number of the PT team stationed along the Evesham road bedecked in bright orange JHT t-shirts – an effort which raised over £387. We followed this with a gardening day in April 2018, when we tidied up the JHT sensory garden and got it ready for the children to enjoy for a new season.
JHT ran their annual golf day in May, and PT proudly sponsored the event as well as entered a team. And although our team’s performance may not have been wholly successful, we were delighted to contribute to what was a highly successful event overall, which raised £8,200 for JHT.
In July JHT held their annual Summer Fete, and the PT team ran a stall there selling Pimms on a very hot day! It was a fabulous event including toys, games, food and events, and thanks to our cooling refreshments we were able to make a worthwhile contribution to the remarkable total raised of £4,000.
Following a dress-down day in the PT office for ‘JHT Day’, which helped raise further funds for this excellent cause, we wrapped up our year’s efforts with a final volunteering day, this time spent making papier mâché bauble-shaped Christmas money boxes for the JHT children to decorate – which proved a very sticky and entertaining day!
All in all it has been a really rewarding year, and the PT team has really enjoyed getting to know the James Hopkins Trust and finding ways to support them in what they do. JHT relies on the generosity of businesses and the public to keep the charity operating – visit their website to find out how you can help through donations or volunteering.
